Join the Association of Independent Corrugated Converters, the Fibre Box Association, and the American Forest and Paper Association united as one industry with one voice for one cause for the 2007 Corrugated Industry Washington Fly-In. Voice your support for legislation that benefits the domestic manufacturing base. This is an excellent opportunity to meet directly with your legislators on Capitol Hill and be heard. The program will be held on June 18-20, 2007 and features speakers as well as pre-arranged appointments with key congressional members and their staff.

AICC's Government Affairs Committee met to discuss various issues affecting the industry and the impacts of related bills currently under consideration by the Congress. These issues will then be presented to the AICC Board of Directors at the Spring Meeting to be held next month in Orlando. Key legislative activities necessary to the ongoing profitability and survival of the independent sector of the corrugated packaging industry are:

  • A Level International Playing Field - enforcement of our international trade agreements is essential to free trade and the viability of our North American manufacturing sector.
  • Energy Security - affordable, reliable energy is critical.
  • Fair and Competitive Tax Policy - current US tax policy is having a detrimental effect.
  • High Performance Workforce - the training and retention of skilled workers are essential.
  • Revitalized Infrastructure - our nation's transportation infrastructure is critical to the timely receipt of raw materials and delivery of product to customer. The independent sector of the corrugated packaging industry depends on adequate roadways and rail infrastructure.
  • Fair Labor Practices - equitable agreements between management and labor are necessary for productivity to keep pace with changing global markets.
