A Third Containerboard Increase this Summer?
Are They Serious?
Mark Wilde, Senior Forest Products Analyst for DeutscheBank, wrote in his
weekend Containerboard Monitor newsletter that “3rd Containerboard Price Move of '10 Appears Probable.”
While he’s quick to say that no formal or informal announcements have been made, he
confidently asserts that “industry fundamentals remain strong (demand is improving, domestic & offshore supplies are tight), a spring corrugated box hike appears to be going
in with relative ease, and a host of recent conversations across the trade
point to a growing sense of ‘when’, not ‘if’ the next initiative will appear.”
He predicts that we’ll see $40-50 by July, and as if reminding containerboard execs of the time
frames involved in getting that, tells them that the announcement will have to
come “within the next four weeks.”

AICC Participates As Co-sponsor At TAPPI’s
Sustainability Forum
TAPPI held a Sustainability Forum in Conjunction with PaperCon, May 2-5, 2010 in
Atlanta, GA. The forum focused on Sustainability Initiatives and Application providing over
100 participants with information that could be readily applied in today’s business practices.
The program was developed and hosted by Laura Rowell, a long time Sustainability
Expert and Director of Sustainability with MeadWestVaco. She currently serves as the U.S delegate on an ISO initiative to create global
environmental packaging standards.
Other speakers included: Joan Pierce, Colgate-Palmolive Company; Victor Bell, President of Environmental
Packaging International (EPI); Anne Bedarf, GreenBlue: Wil Cote, Manager of Product Stewardship, International
Paper Company; Paul Schutes, Recycled Packaging Alliance; Rein Minder, National
Council on Air and Stream; Minal Mistry, GreenBlue; Gregory Norris, GreenBlue;
