CEO Advisory Groups

Every great leader has key advisors. You should, too. Owning your own company and charting its future is challenging, at times daunting, but always rewarding. But you shouldn't go it alone. That's why we've created CEO Advisory Groups. When you join one of our CEO Advisory Groups, your knowledge and insights are multiplied by the power ten. Working with peers, who are in the same business, you are better able to identify opportunities, avoid pitfalls and clearly see the ways to improve all aspects your operations - front office, in plant and back office. You'll be discussing changes that directly and positively impact your bottom line. Because when you invest in yourself the return on investment is immediate. And the payback is on going.

CEO Advisory Groups are an expansion of AICC's highly successful Open Forums held during our National Meetings. We've all seen how members benefit when they share ideas, discuss issues and trends affecting their business, and strengthen relationships with their peers. Now we're taking this a step further by helping to match up non-competing members into structured and facilitated advisory groups.

Each group member:

  • Gains a core of trusted "advisors."
  • Obtains continual management development that benefits the entire team.
  • Profits from friendly pressure to follow through on actions to improve business.
  • Has the opportunity to benchmark key financial and production figures.
  • Visits other members' plants to compare, contrast, and learn.
  • Sets action plans for improvement.

How do CEO Advisory Groups work?
AICC member company CEO's or senior executives submit applications to AICC. There is no cost to apply. Applicants are grouped based on certain criteria including geographic location, type of facility, product mix and so on. Group members are selected randomly from these lists of matching criteria. When at least seven people are grouped together, the Advisory Group is formed. Each member of the group then has the opportunity to accept or decline participation in that particular group. Once a group is formed, the facilitator contacts the group and a host is selected fro the first meeting. A date and meeting place are selected and all group participants are invoiced for the first meeting registration fee. All meetings will be professionally facilitated.

What are the other features of this program?

  • The group is confidential and specifically matched to be non-competitive.
  • Each participant can accept or decline participation in the group.
  • An experienced, third party executive takes care of preparing agendas, facilitating the meetings and generating reports based on the group's input.
  • This facilitator has access to experts in functional fields, such as finance, strategic planning, marketing and succession planning.
  • You work with the group to set the time and place of the meetings to fit your schedule.
  • You only pay AICC the registration fee once a meeting date is set.

Who can participate?
AICC member CEOs, executives, and senior managers.

What is the cost?
These groups will be limited to 10 people maximum, seven people minimum. The registration fee for each meeting of the group varies depending on the group size. For 7 - 8 group members, the fee is $1,295. For 9, $1,145. For 10, $995. You are responsible for your individual travel and hotel costs.

"[Our first CEO Advisory Group] meeting was a success. It was fantastic. We discussed the 'hot' issues of the day, addressed each other's concerns, and mutually sought solutions. I think we built a great deal of trust by the end of the meeting. Everyone that participated was really excited about the outcome: we have items to act upon, have scheduled meetings through the end of 2004, and are emailing each other even now. It's as if the meeting hasn't ended, except now it's transferred to electronic communication. I think every independent owner or executive should be part of an Advisory Group."

"It was intense … a lot of information was shared. I brought some issues to the table that we care about specifically at Ferguson Supply and Box and the grouped helped me out tremendously. The group really saved me a lot of time and energy in providing solutions for me that I have been trying to find on my own."
