AICC members recently received the entry guidelines for the 2017 Independent Packaging Design Competition in a unique and attractively designed corrugated promotional piece supplied by Bennett of Lee’s Summit, MO.

This design was derived from a brainstorming session amongst Bennett’s marketing and design teams. During the concept discussions, it was determined that the goals of the piece were to incorporate iconic/familiar aspects of Las Vegas, create a memorable unboxing experience, and convey the pertinent information to the intended audience in a unique manner. The individuals involved in the initial phase included, Kenny Spence (Graphic Lead), Matt Bader (Graphic Lead), Kyle Knudsen (Graphic Designer), Burton Hughes (Graphic Designer), Scott Harris (Structural Lead), Jeffrey Downs (Structural Lead), William Horsch (Structure Designer), John Cignarale (Structure Designer), Colten Freeze (Creative Services Manager), and Traci Strickert (Director of Marketing).

The final invitation piece was executed by Jeffrey Downs, and Kenny Spence. The invitation consists of the following materials: E-flute corrugate, elastic bands, and 18pt SBS. All printed components were produced on a Fuji Acuity digital printer, and finished on various CAD tables. Members of the Contract Packaging division executed the assembly and pack-out for delivery.

The invitation piece plays off of the Las Vegas Casino scene, featuring a miniature craps table and two pop-up dice that automatically form once the invitation is opened.   The AICC 2017 Independent Packaging Design Competition Welcome to Fabulous Design is being held September 25-27 in conjunction with the AICC 2017 Annual Meeting & Designers’ Lab at The Encore Hotel in Las Vegas, NV.
