On Monday September 18th Sun Automation Group opened the doors of their new, 180,000 sq. ft. manufacturing facility in Glen Arm, MD to the industry with an open house event.  Sun President Ron Diedeman welcomed the gathered Sun employee-owners, customers, vendors, local politicians and dignitaries by giving an overview of Sun’s history.  Corrugated veterans will recognize the illustrious brands that are in the makeup of today’s Sun Automation – Koppers and Langston.  Sun has come a long way from the parts and service operation that launched a new lead edge feeder to today’s OEM supplier of rotary die cutters and digital printing presses worldwide.

Maryland Secretary of Commerce Mike Gill represented the Maryland Governor’s office at the festivities and was joined by State Senator J.B. Jennings and House of Delegates Representative Kathy Szeliga.  They were joined by representatives of Maryland’s two U.S. Senators and various county dignitaries who all brought certificates of recognition for the event.  Of note is the fact that Sun Automation, a U.S. manufacturing plant, is a net exporter of goods to the world.

Celebrating the joining of multiple area facilities into this single plant, with room for planned expansion, Sun’s open house events continue through Thursday with daily tours, lunch and evening events including a dinner of local delicacies; a Baltimore Orioles game and a tour of a local winery.

AICC congratulates Sun Automation Group on this achievement and thanks all the hard-working people of Sun for the hospitality they extended to our visiting staff members.  We are proud to be your Manufacturing Association.
