A long-time family-owned manufacturer in Peterborough, that once employed Jeff Leal before he became MPP for Peterborough in 2003, has a new corporate owner.
Kingsey Falls, Que.-based Cascades announced Monday it has acquired the Coyle Packaging (Peterborough) Ltd. operation at 785 The Kingsway.
It's part of a $28-million deal to strengthen the presence of Cascades, a recycled paper specialist, in the boxboard packaging sector by acquiring the Coyle family plants in Etobicoke, Burlington, Scarborough and Peterborough.
The four specialty boxes and specialty products sites will add about 500 million square feet to its annual production capacity, Cascades said.
The other plants acquired from the Coyle family are: Coyle Corrugated Containers Inc. in Scarborough, McLeish Corr-a-Box Packaging and Design in Etobicoke and Brown Packaging in Burlington.
