Jim Shaw, Founder and Chairman of Batavia Container Inc.

James C. 'Jim' Shaw, founder and Chairman of Batavia Container Inc., Batavia, Ill., passed away on Saturday, August 4 at Delnor Community Hospital in Geneva, IL. He was 82 years old. Shaw began his career in the corrugated industry in 1953 with American Boxboard, serving as an Illinois sales representative for the Ohio-based company. In 1961, he co-founded Batavia Container, Inc., a sheet plant in Batavia, Ill. During his long career he was active in the Fibre Box Association (FBA) and the Association of Independent Corrugated Converters (AICC), especially AICC’s Region Six in the Chicago area. He was also a long-time supporter of the City of Hope. An avid golfer, Jim was a past president of the St. Charles Country Club, and enjoyed eight holes-in-one in his lifetime. He is survived by Linda, his wife of 57 years, a daughter and three sons, including Clay Shaw, President and Brett Shaw, Executive Vice President of Batavia Container, Inc.
