AICC participated in the Wal-Mart SVN Trade Fair last week in Bentonville, AR to represent independent box plant packaging capabilities. The booth was packed with samples of structural and graphic design samples showcasing the best AICC Independents have to offer. The Corrugated Packaging Alliance (CPA) has welcomed the Association of Independent Corrugated Converters (AICC) as co-sponsor, joining with the American Forest & Paper Association (AF&PA) and the Fibre Box Association (FBA) to support and expand the corrugated industry’s efforts on sustainability and related issues. AICC Mexico held its 7th Annual Meeting April 24-25 in Monterrey, Mexico. More than 140 members and suppliers attended the two-day event, which included training for corrugated sales managers, plant tours, a trade fair and speakers on the North American containerboard market, improving plant efficiency and sustainability. Juan Javier Gonzalez, President of Cajas y Empaques Modernos in Mexico City, and Regional Director for AICC Mexico, hosted the meeting.

The theme of the meeting was "Sustainable Business" and it began Thursday, April 24, when 65 sales managers and senior sales representatives from AICC Mexico members attended AICC’s Sales Managers’ Forum, facilitated by Jack O’Connor. The day-long program focused on sales management techniques, understanding customer needs and developing a company wide approach to sales.

AICC will present Blueprint for Sustainable Packaging, a new Audio/Web conference on Tuesday, May 20th at 1:30 PM (Eastern Time). Suzanne Fisher, CPP, current president of the Institute of Packaging Professionals and frequent speaker on the topic of sustainable packaging, will be presenting tools for the packaging professionals’ toolbox on how to develop and implement a plan for sustainable packaging. AICC offers its third Designers’ Workshop for structural designers and sales staff in the corrugated industry, to be held Thursday and Friday, May 15-16, in Chicago, Illinois. The program’s Opening Session will feature “Corrugated Cradle to Gate: Sustainability Opportunities” presented by Debbra Johnson, Market Segment Lead, DuPont Packaging Graphics. The learning goals of the program are to strengthen the designers’ knowledge in raw materials, testing and production processes and to understand the reasonable and practical limitations in moving from design to production. Discussions will be scheduled on developing sustainable packaging initiatives and the current state of the industry. Attendees will also engage in a private tour of the United Parcel Service (UPS) Chicago Area Consolidated Hub (CACH) operations and the UPS Customer Solutions Package Design and Test Lab. click here.
