AICC AICC 40 Years

Chairman's Message

I am enjoying serving as your chairman this year and am thankful for the opportunity to do so! AICC has put together a great Spring meeting that offers educational and networking opportunities for everyone. My hope is that everyone takes away ideas and strategies to apply back at home to help take your business to the next level. This year we will be exploring “Principled Leadership.” I believe there are five core values of Principled Leadership: Integrity, Balance, Creativity, Agility, and Excellence and I hope to touch on all of these this year.

As always, AICC offers box plant discounted group pricing for their corrugated, folding carton and rigid box members. This way you can send more of your employees and experience more of the benefits of AICC for one low price.

Ed Wallace, President and Chief Relationship Officer of The Relational Capital Group will present a keynote on “Investing in Relational Capital” followed by a two-day workshop track on “Five Steps for Transforming Contacts into High Performing Relationships” and “Winning through Impactful Customer Meetings.” He will also be presenting at the Sales Managers’ Forum.

We have a special focus on Human Resources at the meeting. On Wednesday afternoon, we will hold an HR Summit that will feature a round table discussion followed by presentations on “How to Gain, Train and Retain Your Employees,” “The Affordable Care Act (ACA),” and “The Latest HR Technologies that Smart Companies are using to Find, Compensate, and Keep their Employees.”

Also, we’ll hear from Christine Walters, JD, MAS, SHRM-SCP, SPHR - FiveL Company. Christine will present during the general session on “Employment Laws, Legislation & Regulation Impacting Business Practices,” as well as, a two-day workshop on the following HR topics: Employee Handbooks and the Top Ten HR headaches. I encourage everyone to bring their HR professionals or those that handle HR in your company.

We will hold a two-day “Supplier Innovations Showcase” that will educate members on “What’s New” in the Corrugated, Folding Carton and Rigid Box Industries to help streamline operations and reduce overall costs.

We will also have a two-day workshop on “hot topics” that will feature Gene Marks presenting on “Trump, Millennials and Amazon - Trends & Issues that will Impact your Cash Flow & Profits” and “Ask the Experts:” Ralph Young, AICC Corrugated Technical Advisor and Tom Weber, Folding Carton Technical Advisor will present on “Hot Topics in 2017" for the Corrugated, Folding & Rigid Industry.

Dinesh D’Souza, Renowned Film Maker, Author and Scholar will close the meeting with an inspirational and poignant presentation on “What’s So Great about America.”

We would like to thank local member company StarCorr Sheets LLC and the Community Impact Newspaper who have graciously offered to host tours of their facilities on Wednesday, April 26.

AICC will hold its 4th annual Independents’ Cup charity golf tournament. Following the success of the previous tournaments this scramble style tournament offers more networking and fun for everyone – all while raising money for great causes!

Finally, we will hold a Sales Managers’ Forum on Wednesday, April 26. The course focuses on building relationships with your sales team, customers, and understanding your role in the process. You will leave this course with a better understanding of your role as a Sales Manager and how to make the best use of your time while keeping your sales team focused.

I am looking forward to the year as your chairman and I hope you and your colleagues will join us this spring in Austin!
