AICC, the Independent Packaging Association, the Fibre Box Association (FBA), Printing Industries of America (PIA), Association for Print Technologies (APT), Idealliance and Specialty Graphics Imaging Association (SGIA) brought together over 100 print and packaging professionals June 19-20 for the Print & Packaging Legislative Summit in Washington, DC.

Tuesday, to prepare for congressional visits, attendees received policy briefings on trade & tariffs, recycling & environmental regulations, and workforce issues from subject matter and legislative experts. Then after learning best practices for getting your message across to members of Congress and their staffs, lobbyists offered an update on postal reform, paper advocacy, tax reform, and health care issues.

The briefings were followed by a reception in the Rayburn House Office Building honoring members of 115th Congress and presenting several Friend of Print & Packaging Awards and the RICOH Innovation in Government Communications Awards. A dinner at the Capitol Hill Club featured a keynote speaker, pundit Charlie Cook, Editor-in-Chief of the Cook Political Report.

Wednesday, attendees enjoyed breakfast in the Russell Senate Office Building with four Senators receiving Friend of Print and Packaging Awards. The rest of the day was filled with visiting members of Congress to present and discuss the issues of concern for the print and packaging industries. At a mid-day break attendees had the opportunity to attend several tax seminars.

The evening brought all attendees back together with a happy hour and a Print & Packaging Night Out at Nationals Park to watch the Nationals battle the Orioles in the Battle of the Beltway.

Top sponsors for the program included TLMI, RICOH, Packsize, NAPIM, and Falco Sult.

The baseball suite was sponsored by Poteet Printing.

Sponsors included Resolute Forest Products, Catalyst, Book Manufacturing Institute, Twin Rivers Paper, and Quad Graphics.
