A Goal of Every Box Plant Is to Produce the Strongest Box Possible With the Least Amount of Fiber

A goal of every box plant is to produce the strongest box possible with the least amount of fiber, this can now be achieved with the Chalmers DST.

The Chalmers DST is an ultrasensitive device that measures how well the flutes have been formed off the corrugator and how much damage they sustained during the converting process. The test is very simple and provides results in 12 seconds allowing for real-time calibration. The DST is much more sensitive than Caliper, ECT, and BCT and is the only test that tells you how your box will perform in a real-world scenario.

Since the Chalmers DST will tell you how much damage the flutes have sustained, you can then pinpoint where the damage is occurring and make the necessary changes. After the changes are made you will no longer be crushing the flutes. This will lead to a stronger board that requires less fiber to produce it.

Benefits of the Chalmers DST

• Improve the quality of the corrugating process

• Reduce damage during the converting process

• Reduce board weight

• Improve box stacking performance

• Shift money from raw material cost to the bottom line
