Tom Vilardi, President and Publisher of Board Converting News, passed away on Tuesday, July 31, after a long battle with cancer. He was 56 years old.
Tom succeeded his father, Ted Vilardi Jr., as president and publisher of Board Converting News in 1986 and built the weekly publication into the respected industry voice that it is today. In partnership with Michael and Dan Brunton in the UK, the Board Converting News family has grown to include Flexo Market News; International Folding Carton Industry and Corrugated Today, among other noted publications. NV Publications has also published the show guides for AICC/TAPPI SuperCorrExpo and Corrugated Week since the inception of these industry events in 1999-2000.
Tom was a great friend of the independent side of the corrugated business, and the tone and tenor of Board Converting News has consistently reflected this. Its pages regularly feature profiles of independent converters – most of whom are AICC members – and their suppliers of equipment and materials. He and his team at NV Publications were loyal attendees at all AICC meetings, both national and regional, and their conscientiously-written press reports of our events have over many years helped AICC become known throughout our North American industry, and beyond.
Tom is survived by his wife of 29 years, Jeneane Crawford Vilardi and their son Thomas Vilardi Jr. and daughter Tyler Vilardi, as well as his mother, Jacqueline Vilardi, sisters and two grandchildren.
