National Forest Products Week 2018 - #ForestProductsWeek

AF&PA Association Member Communications Resources

 

Objective:

Reinforce the value of our products and industry during National Forest Products Week!  Each year since 1960, the third week in October has been proclaimed National Forest Products Week.  We anticipate the Presidential Proclamation to be issued by Monday, October 22.  AF&PA invites its members to leverage and use the following resources to amplify the benefits of forest products across the country and in local communities. We will engage in earned and paid media and organic and paid social media to promote the importance our industry has on society through AF&PA’s and Paper Recycles’ websites and social media channels. They are:

  • The forest products industry is central to U.S. manufacturing competitiveness. We are American manufacturing jobs!

o   Among top 10 manufacturing sector employers in 45 states.

o   Four percent of total U.S. manufacturing GDP.

o   Approximately 950,000 people employed directly and supporting 2.4 million jobs.

  • Forest products continue to meet the evolving needs of people across the country and around the world.

o   Paper products allow us to communicate, teach and learn.  They provide safe packaging for goods and consumables, as well as personal hygiene and cleanliness.

o   Wood products provide shelter and necessary components of daily life.

  • Our sustainable business practices are key to the life of our industry, proper management of the resource and health of our planet and communities.
  • We support policies that maximize the efficiency of our value chain, ensuring competitiveness in the global marketplace.
