ISM Manufacturing Index Cooled In September From A 14-Year High

CC, through its membership in the Council of Manufacturing Associations, is pleased to present the "Manufacturing Economic Daily Newsletter” from the NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF MANUFACTURERS (NAM).

Reuters (10/1, Mutikani) reports, “The Institute for Supply Management (ISM) said its index of national factory activity dropped 1.5 points to a reading of 59.8 last month from 61.3 in August, which was the highest since May 2004.” Bloomberg News (10/1) reports, “The ISM report indicates manufacturing is coming off the boil while still expanding at a solid pace amid steady demand and lower taxes, indicating the industry is poised to contribute to economic growth in the second half.”
