CNN -- Kroger and Microsoft are teaming up to create an alternative to other high-tech shopping options.

The companies announced a partnership Monday to bring digital shelves, price tags and advertisements to two pilot grocery stores in Ohio and Washington State.

Amazon previously announced plans to have up to 3,000 cashier-less stores by 2021 and WalMart’s Sam’s Club has already opened one of its own.

These options are designed to save time and money.

With digital in-store options, shoppers can avoid long lines.
