Credits Make Way for Custom & Miller Box to Take over Matlet Property, Add 42 Positions

New jobs are coming to Pawtucket after the Rhode Island Commerce Corp. last week approved $612,000 in Qualified Job Tax Credit incentives for Custom & Miller Box to expand Rhode Island operations and add 42 positions.

Custom & Miller Box, of East Providence, sister company of Pawtucket-based Key Container at 21 Campbell St., will relocate to a new facility in Pawtucket as part of the deal.

“The city is pleased to hear that CommerceRI has approved the necessary incentives for Custom & Miller Box to expand operations and add jobs here in Pawtucket,” said Commerce Director Jeanne Boyle. “The city has worked with Key Container and the state as Key Container, Custom & Miller Box’s sister company, and we will continue to provide them with any assistance that they may require as they move forward.”

The expansion, said Boyle, will take place at the 6 Delta Drive property where manufacturing jobs were lost when the Matlet Group abruptly closed its doors last October. The space the company is taking over was previously occupied by Matlet as a packaging graphics and printing company.

“It is an extremely positive sign to see that the property is being occupied by another manufacturer,” said Boyle. “We also thank the state for partnering with the city to hold a job fair in Pawtucket shortly after Matlet closed to assist former Matlet employees, where some were offered jobs by other local manufacturers.  Read Full Article
