Quality Boxes at Speed

April 30, 2019 – AICC, The Independent Packaging Association, welcomed fifteen packaging professionals to its latest seminar, Introduction to Rotary Die Cutting, held at Fox Valley Technical College in Appleton, WI, March 27-28.

This new two-day seminar focused on how to safely produce quality boxes at speed on < 4 color machines.

Attendees explored each section of the machine with expert trainers and suppliers. They put their new skills into practice in a hands-on environment and built standard operating procedures to take back to their home plants.

Instructors Mark Keller, Graphic Arts Instructor, and Scott Gehrt, Flexographic Printing Instructor, of Fox Valley Technical College (FVTC) led the program with Scott Ellis, Ed.D., Working Well, LLC moderating.  

Mark Keller has 23 years with Fox Valley Technical College and nine years of Flexographic Printing industry experience with Belmark Corporation. Mark is very active in the industry via board and committee membership and often judges printing competitions. He specializes in seminars, workshops, testing and trial runs for business and industry.

Scott Gehrt has 14 years with FVTC as a Flexographic Printing Instructor and 12 years of flexographic printing industry experience. Scott has extensive experience on press, seminar, testing and trials, teaching Technical Diploma, and Associate degree programs on wide web, corrugated, and narrow web equipment.

AICC will be returning to Fox Valley June 12-13 for Total Productive Maintenance: RDC & FFG. This course will touch on many of the components of Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) for packaging manufacturers, with particular attention to Autonomous Maintenance (AM). AM  is a maintenance strategy wherein machine adjustments and minor maintenance is performed by operators who are deemed to have unique knowledge about the equipment.
