August 20, 2019 – Monday, September 16th AICC, The Independent Packaging Association, will offer a special focused session, “Distribution Packaging in an E-Commerce World,” as part of the 2019 Annual Meeting, being held September 16-18, at the Westin Harbour Castle Hotel in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.

Amazon and ISTA have created a new test procedure requiring that packages now be certified to be sold on Amazon.com. Amazon initiated this process as an attempt to reduce waste and reward vendors by using recycled material. Amazon created Amazon Packaging Support and Supplier Network (APASS), which partners with independent testing laboratories to test and certify packages as FFP, SIOC & PFP. The presentation will review each tier of certification, along with rigors of shipment, and what box manufacturers need to consider. The session will also hear challenges faced by CPGs and how e-commerce is transforming the role of consumer packaging.

Speakers for the session include Francois Martin, Senior Communications Advisor, Bobst Switzerland; Monica White, Associate Laboratory Director & Certified Packaging Technologist, Advanced Packaging Technology Laboratories; and Paul Chambers, President and Co-Founder of the Subscription Trade Association (SUBTA) and CEO and Founder of Core3 Solutions, a parent company to Element5 Digital, Gentleman's Box, Rocket Effect, Moka Boka, and Unity Management System.

Three workshop tracks will also educate attendees on a variety of topics including determing the true cost for digital, flexographic, and lithographic printing; marijuana in the workplace and other top HR issues impacting employers in both the U.S. and Canada, and increasing profits through increased engagement and creating and sustaining a company culture.

Featured keynote speakers include Gregg Lederman, a professional speaker, a professor at the University of Rochester Simon School of Business, and CEO of Brank at Work, Inc., and Rick Mercer, Canada’s most popular comic, who chronicles, satirizes, and ultimately celebrates all that is great and irreverent about Canada and the global political landscape.

AICC will also host a designers’ forum: “Practical Innovation in Package Design” on Monday, September 16. As always, during the Annual Meeting, AICC will offer a special training and networking event for AICC Emerging Leaders.

The host hotel for the meeting is the Westin Harbour Castle nestled in the harbor with seamless downtown access. Attendees are strongly encouraged to make their hotel reservations at the Westin before the group cut-off date of Friday, August 23, 2019, to be guaranteed availability at the group rate. More information about securing hotel reservations can be found at www.AICCbox.org/meeting.
