Email to a FriendNew Jersey is one step closer to ending the days when you could carry your groceries in paper or plastic bags, as a legislative committee on Thursday advanced a ban on single-use bags and Styrofoam.
At least 10 states and hundreds of municipalities have banned plastic bags, but the New Jersey bill is said to be strongest in the nation. It would also ban paper bags, often the single-use, easily recyclable alternative to plastic bags.
