AF&PA Releases November Containerboard Report

U.S. production and operating rates decrease

Total containerboard production in November 2019 decreased 1% compared to November 2018, according to the American Forest & Paper Association’s (AF&PA) November 2019 Containerboard Monthly report. It was down 4% when compared to the same 11 months of 2018. 

November 2019 production of containerboard for export decreased 9% compared to the same month last year; it was down 15% year-to-date. The containerboard operating rate was 93.5%, down 2.7 points from November 2018 and down 5.2 points year-to-date. Mill inventories of containerboard at the end of November increased 78,000 short tons from the previous month and were up 70,000 short tons compared to November 2018.
