February 18, 2020 - Registration for the 2020 Spring Meeting hosted by AICC, The Independent Packaging Association, April 1-3, at the Omni La Costa Resort & Spa, in Carlsbad, CA is available at the early rate through March 6, 2020.

The meeting will feature a three-day series of powerful general sessions, workshops, and networking events that offer key information and new trends to keep independents thriving in the paper packaging industry. The meeting will also feature the 7th Annual Independents’ Cup Charity Golf Tournament and tours of Harbor Packaging and the HP Discovery Center. In conjunction with the meeting, AICC will offer a revamped Sales Management Forum and programs for AICC Emerging Leaders.

Keynote speakers include Steve Robinson, former CMO and EVP, Chick-fil-A, and Captain Richard Phillips, the real-life inspiration for the movie “Captain Phillips” and Author.

Steve Robinson will offer both a keynote and two-day workshop track during the meeting. He will present the case study of Chick-fil-A and explain how the clever branding and best-in-class service practices his team developed would not have mattered if not for the Chick-fil-A “X factor”: a clear, powerful mission statement driving a self-sustaining corporate culture. With this talk, he peels back the curtain on how Chick-fil-A established their legendary culture by breaking the rules and refusing to forsake purpose for profit. He will also present on “Putting the Customer First” and will discuss what businesses can learn from the “Second Mile Service” handbook, which is a “crash course” in creating a brand that customers cannot live without. Steve will share information and inspiration that attendees can use to ensure success in their business.

The meeting will culminate with the inspiring story of Captain Richard Phillips, the author of A Captain’s Duty: Somali Pirates, Navy SEALs, and Dangerous Days at Sea, with his presentation about his experience and his remarkable rescue. This dramatic story was also transformed into an Academy Award and Golden Globe-nominated film, Captain Phillips, which hit the big screens in the fall of 2013.

The focused session, “The Climate for Your Company’s Growth in 2020” will feature speakers; Adam Josephson, Director, Equity Research, KeyBanc Capital Markets, Inc. (Packaging Sector) and Mitch Klingher, CPA & Partner, Klingher Nadler, LLC, who will offer an overview of containerboard and box demand numbers and what they mean, as well as, an update on M&A. Nathan Safran, Vice President, Research, NAPCO Media, will share findings that highlight trends, adoptions, and behaviors of brand owners and the packaging sector. The session will close with a member panel that will discuss their thoughts on the current climate and the factors they consider when making capital investments, acquisitions, and their views on organic growth.

Before the Meeting, AICC will offer its popular Sales Managers’ Forum, during which attendees can join AICC’s three industry experts and sales facilitators. This Forum will focus on identifying

the three key areas salespeople need to have in their toolbox to be successful and will help sales teams set new strategies for meeting and exceeding sales goals. Attendees will focus on understanding the company’s capabilities, building knowledgeable sales experts that can assess and tackle any packaging challenge, and foster strong client relationships by identifying the skills needed to transition a client to a long-term partner in business.
