The Second Edition of ACCCSA’s Design Contest recognized the excellence in design, innovation, and performance of corrugating packaging and cardboard structures, and awarded the most outstanding creations of the Latin American industry.

Incarpalm of Ecuador and Cartonera Nacional of Colombia won the four categories of the competition. Therefore, in an unprecedented event, each company received two awards.

Creativity and Performance

Incarpalm’s graphic design team, led by Fabián Avilés, won the Innovative and Creative Packaging Award with the eye-catching Coco Express Six Pack Eco Promotional Packaging. It features a self-assembling die-cut box for coconut juice bottles. This package eliminates the use of shrink-wrapped plastic to support and protect the six-pack using a cardboard structure instead. As to visual and marketing appeal, the box features an attractive printing job. Not only is the outer space of the box fully utilized to promote the product, but the inner part of the box includes a children's table juice to reuse the box.

In the Structure for the Over-the-counter Point-of-Sale or Aisle Display category, Diana Canceco, and her team from Incarpalm’s Structural Design Department received an award for their Modular Display for Tropic Max, an integrated solution for the logistics chain requiring export packaging.

The design features an integrated pallet which solves the limitations of wooden pallets according to the ISP M15 Phytosanitary Standard. It is a die-cut self-assembling display made of flute C and flute D corrugated kraft board. Graphic design serves two functions: the first targets export logistics and point-of-sale display. The second offers a modular, cost-effective, environmentally friendly display alternative with security locks included to create a supermodule for product display.

E-commerce Packaging

Cartonera Nacional stood out with its Halloween Pumpkin Box, a project of the Design Division led by Victor Echeverry. The box won the Corrugated Kraft Box with Direct Flexo-printing category, as well as the very competitive E-commerce packaging category.

This innovative box for carrying floral arrangements stood out for its product contention and protection capability, its attractive printing work which also includes a children’s game to play at the Halloween party for reusing purposes.

Leading packaging design and industry experts attended the Second Edition of ACCCSA’s Design Contest to evaluate the entries and choose the winners.

On behalf of the four members of the jury, Jorge Acevedo, CEO of Instituto Argentino del Envase said: “Choosing the winners has been a very difficult task but witnessing the high quality of each of the projects and the effort of the companies to offer quality products with attractive, functional and sustainable designs was very gratifying.”

A total of 15 companies participated in the competition, submitting more than 30 projects
