Jim Curley, former Editor and Chief of Board Converting News (BCN) and an AICC Hall of Famer, passed away 06/06/2022 in Ship Bottom, NJ.

He was born May 2, 1944, in Tenafly, NJ, the son of Hugh and Mary Curley. Jim graduated from Bergen Catholic High School, received a BA from Boston College and an MA from Fairleigh Dickinson University. For many years, Jim was the Operations Manager at N V Business Publishers Corporation, Avon-by-the-Sea, New Jersey. Jim loved his hometown of Ship Bottom where he served as a member of the LBI Library Board and as a freelance writer, he was a frequent contributor to The Sand Paper. He was proud of his Irish heritage and was a longstanding member and president of the Amergael club of Stafford Township.

Jim was a fixture at AICC meetings covering them for N.V. Publications.  He visited, and wrote of, many Independent box plants as a feature story in BCN.  He loved the corrugated industry and his writing reflected that love while also showing his keen understanding of operations, personalities, and market dynamics.  Jim was not shy about challenging those in the industry when called for.  AICC members recognized his contributions through his induction into the AICC Hall of Fame in 2017.

He is survived by three of his four brothers Jack, Tom, and Kevin; nieces and nephews Eileen, Caroline, Catherine, Debbie, Mark, Pat, Brendan, Brian, and Dennis, and eight great nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents and his brother Hugh. A funeral mass will be held on Monday, June 13, 2022 at St. Francis of Assisi Church in Brant Beach. The family will receive friends from 10-11 AM followed by mass at 11 AM. Memorial contributions can be made to Boston College or the LBI Library.
