New Breaking Down Boxes Episode Released

Hosts Gene Marino, President, Akers Packaging Service Group, and Joe Morelli, Vice President of Sales & Marketing, Huston Patterson Printers and Lewisburg Printing Co., speak with Matt Davis, President, Packaging Express, in I’m In, the latest episode of Breaking Down Boxes.

Matt Davis has corrugated dust in his veins. His grandfather owned and operated successful box plants in Iowa during the 1930s – 60s. His dad, Jim Davis, worked over 30 years with Deline Box before starting Packaging Express with Matt in Colorado Springs, CO, in 1998. This adventure began over a family breakfast when Jim asked his family if anyone wanted to be part of a sheet plant he was considering starting.

"Matt is not only a phenomenal leader, but a phenomenal human being as well. He oozes positivity and it’s contagious,” said Marino.

After college and before walking into Packaging Express, Davis spent a year teaching in Ecuador. Even while abroad, he and his dad were working out the details of the new company.

Davis is a humble and generous person who shares what it is like to be brand new to the box business and build a company his entire family can be proud of.

“It’s incredible how a third-generation box maker can think of himself as new to the box business, but that is a great example of Matt’s humility,” said AICC President Mike D’Angelo. “Matt’s passion and enthusiasm shines through in this latest episode of Breaking Down Boxes.”
