AICC Partner 5L offers an explanation of potential next steps in light to the DOL Overtime Rule being blocked by a judge’s order.

The U.S. Department of Labor’s overtime rule was blocked nationwide. If you have implemented changes to one or more employees’ minimum salary you may be wondering what to do next. The good news is that you have options.  Here is a brief article explaining the judge’s ruling in a bit more detail.  Considerations for your next steps might include the impact to:

  • employee relations if you reduce the minimum salary of an employee whose salary was just increased;
  • internal equity resulting from any changes you recently made or may make; and
  • ensuring you comply with any state rule that has a higher minimum salary threshold than the federal rule.
