High Point, North Carolina based Packrite, LLC a supplier of premier high-graphic corrugated packaging recently installed a new Heiber + Schröder WP 1400 MASTER Rotary Window Patching and Carton Lining machine. “The addition of this machine is part of our dedication to continual growth,” says Michael Drummond, Packrite’s CEO. “The requirement for windowed and lined cartons continues to grow. The capabilities of the WP 1400 MASTER will allow us to meet this requirement, as well as improve our efficiency and enhance the value-added capabilities we offer our customers.”

Packrite’s WP 1400 MASTER window patcher includes a “two lanes” option which allows processing of two cartons or boxes simultaneously, therefore doubling the machine’s speed and capacity. The machine has capabilities for paper, film and foil application, 1- through 4-up operation, automatic double sheet detection, missing window detection with automatic marking, and many other quality and efficiency enhancing features.

Optional features selected by Packrite include dual film unwind stands and a unique ‘Pick and Place’ device. “The Pick and Place expands the capabilities we can offer our customers,” says Drummond. “This will allow us to do packaging with hard plastic windows as you commonly see in liquor and other high-end packaging. However, it’s not limited to just hard plastic. It can pick and place several other types of value-added materials as well, such as liners and grease barriers.”

The largest windowing machine made by Heiber + Schröder, the WP 1400 MASTER will accept blanks from 3.9 x 3.2” to 49.6 x 55”. The new machine can place windows or liners from 2.16 x 1.18” to 35.4 x 48.8” giving it the ability to place the largest windows available in the market. The WP 1400 MASTER processes a wide range of materials from 18 pt to 36 pt board and corrugated paperboard from ‘N’ flute through ‘C’ flute. Film and foil capabilities range from .02 to .35mm (13 pt window thickness in roll format) and include a wide range of material types.

“As our customers continue to explore new ways to successfully market their products. We’ll continue to make smart investments in our capabilities to meet their needs for high-graphic value-added packaging.” says Drummond.
